On a very chilly March evening at Southchurch Park Manor were beaten by a good Barton Rovers side.
Rovers took the lead after 19 minutes when the away side got into the box and the player finished well from an acute angle past the keeper. It really should of been 2-0 on 29 minutes when Rovers somehow missed an open goal from 5 yards out. On 43 minutes Manor could have equalised. Welsh's free kick was fizzed into the six yard box and a Rovers defender headed it against his own crossbar and over for a corner which came to nothing. On 52 minutes Manor drew level when the ball fell into the path of Darby who ran on and slotted past the keeper for 1-1. In the 77th minute the away side retook the lead when a good ball through to the forward was expertly lifted over the advancing keeper for 2-1 and then on 83 minutes the game was made safe when Number 10 was allowed to run through on the keeper and he slotted home superbly for 3-1. Manor fought back well in the second period but the away side probably shaded this contest and deserved their victory.
