Manor's Under 16's were knocked out of the Lithco Cup this evening at Southchurch Park in a very entertaining game. Manor took the lead after 18 minutes when an excellent corner from Taylor fell at the feet of Jude who poked the ball into the net. That lead lasted six minutes however as Snaresbrook equalised with an unstoppable 20 yarder that flew into the top corner. A quality strike it has to be said. This seemed to give the away side confidence as they had the better of the rest of the first half thereafter but the half wouldn't produce any more goal action. On 62 minutes the away side took the lead when the Snaresbrook player cut in from the right and from the edge of the box struck the ball beyond the keepers dive. One minute later however Manor were level. Good work from Maskell sent Moss into the right hand side of the box and his shot from an acute angle crept in at the far post for 2-2.
On 68 minutes Snaresbrook scored what proved to be the winner. The ball was cleared to the edge of the penalty area and a Snaresbrook player struck the ball through a crowd of players past the keeper into the corner of the net. He was unsighted so didn't have much hope of stopping the shot which was struck well. Manor did create a golden chance to equalise in the final minute. Moss saw the keeper off his line and his 40 yard lob bounced in front of the goal and the keeper managed to get back and somehow clawed the ball onto the post and the ball ended up being cleared away. So Snaresbrook edged this one in the end but it was a very good competitive game played in a good spirit which was nice to see.
