Southend Manor 4 Enfield 1893 1

Essex Senior League, Tuesday 5th March 2013

This was rearranged from two weeks earlier when that game was abandoned at half time with Manor leading 3-0.  So it seems justice has been done after all!!!   Manor yet again dominated their opponents for most of the game and thoroughly deserved their win. On 28 minutes Manor had the breakthrough. I scramble in the box ended up with the ball being poked towards goal and one of the Enfield defenders handled the ball on route to goal and the referee awarded a penalty to the home side, much to the annoyance of Enfield. Jamie Salmon stepped up and easily despatched the spot kick past Greenwood in the bottom corner for 1-0.Up till this point Enfield had only really had a couple of half chances but never really threatened Manor's goal. However one minute into the second half Enfield were level in controversial circumstances. A goalmouth scramble ended up with Ashley Taylor Forbes poking the ball at the goal and it seemed Adam Seal clawed the ball off the line but the linesman said the ball had crossed the line, much to Manor's annoyance as the general conclusion was that the whole ball hadn't crossed the line but it was given so that made it 1-1. Manor retook the lead on 59 minutes. A lovely flowing move ended up with Vyse being played in by Mark Sisson and Adam Vyse's lovely delicate lob beat Greenwood to make it 2-1. It was 3-1 on 63 minutes. Bert Greenwood came out to try and clear a ball over the top but he missed it allowing Adam Vyse the easiest of tap in's into an empty net. On was almost 4-1 on 67 minutes but this time Bert Greenwood made a good save from a close range header. The game was made safe on 74 minutes when a free kick into the box was glanced on by Brad Vaughan into the far corner past Greenwood for 4-1.
