Tonight I went back to Burroughs Park to see Wakering's second pre season match, this time entertaining the other Blues in Essex Billericay Town. Bright sunshine greated the players and Billericay flew out of the traps and were quickly 2-0 up after 15 minutes through a great free kick and then a close range header. Billericay continued to dominate their hosts although Wakering did create a couple of decent efforts towards the end of the half. Billericay did what Southend United did on Saturday and changed their whole eleven for the second half and this along with an improved performance from the hosts contributed to a much more even second period. Wakering pulled a goal back through a Ashley Hawkins close range header on 70 minutes and they could and should of levelled soon after but in the end Billericay ran out the slender victors in what was a good run out for both teams.
