Takeley 3 Southend Manor 1

Essex Senior League, Saturday 5th October 2013

Manor travelled to Station Road, Takeley for their latest league match against a good Takeley side containing the leagues top scorer Reece Dobson.   Manor actually had the first shot on goal when Charm Dube had a effort saved although it was probably going wide.   Sadly after this Manor's first half went totally downhill as they conceded three goals in fifteen crazy minutes.  On 2 minutes a ball over the top wasn't dealt with and found its way through to Reece Dobson who took a touch towards the goal and then fired across Lawrence Priddle who could only help it on its way into the goal for 1-0.   On 5 minutes it was 2-0.  A simple cross from the left found Reece Dobson's head and he stooped low to direct his header past Priddle's right into the corner from about six yards out.   Manor were all over the place and the home side were looking like they would score at will.   And on 15 minutes it was 3-0 to Takeley.   Another cross from the left invaded Priddle and Reece Dobson headed downwards into the empty net for his hat trick.   Takeley continued to pour forward in search of more goals as they totally dominated the opening half hour.   Manor finally had a decent effort on target on 33 minutes when youngster Charlie Little drove past the full back and his shot across goal was well saved.   Two minutes before half time Manor's task was made even more difficult when midfielder Joe Bright kicked out at a Takeley player on the floor following a challenge and the referee had no option other than to brandish the red card and reduce the away side to ten men.   The second half was a much more even affair as the away side took their foot off the gas somewhat and Manor made a double change at the start of the half taking off Charlie Little and Harrison Grant and bringing on Barv Waiwaiku and Churchill Chia-Titor.   Manor were far more solid and organised at the back second half and gave Takeley less to feed on going forward.   Nonetheless the home side continued to dominate possession as Manor sat back and played on the break when they could.   Dobson could and should of had his and Takeley's fourth on the hour mark but his close range header flew over.   On 63 minutes Yaw Danso came on for Charm Dube and he immediately made an impression down the left flank with his raw pace.   On 68 minutes it was he who created Manor's only goal of the game.   Another run down the wing resulted with him cutting it back to Waiwaiku in the box and he took a touch before firing past the keeper to make it 3-1.   Takeley had another couple of chances to score, the most notable one coming from Dobson who fired a 20 yarder inches wide of the goal.    The last twenty minutes saw Manor finally playing some nice football and they gave their defence a breather for the first time in the contest.   On 84 minutes they almost made it 3-2 as a cross from the right was headed just wide by Dan Williams, a goal there and it would have been an interesting last few minutes indeed.   But Takeley saw out the game and took the points.   Manor improved second half albeit Takeley did take their foot of the gas a bit.   Manor lost this game in the first half and will look to bounce back at home to Barking on Wednesday in the Gordon Brasted Trophy.
