Southend Manor U16s 1 Tigers 5

Essex U16s Cassells County Cup 2nd Round, Sunday 20th October 2013

Manor's U16's took on Tigers from Hornchurch at a sun drenched Southchurch Arena this morning.  The game was only a couple of minutes in when Manor's Dan Perry struck a long range effort which hit the post and went wide.   After 5 minutes Tigers went in front through an own goal from close range.   Dan Perry had another good effort fly just wide for Manor but Tigers were playing some good football.   On 26 minutes Manor had their defender Josh Perry sent off after he handled a goalbound shot on the line and from the resulting penalty Tigers made it 2-0.   Six minutes later and poor defending allowed Tigers to make it 3-0 from close range after the keeper had saved the follow up was hit home as they took complete control of the contest.   Six minutes into the second half it was 4-0 following a scramble in the penalty area the ball broke to Tigers who finished well from close range.   Manor did get on the scoreboard three minutes later through a close range header from Nigel Mukundu to make it 4-1.   Tigers did grab a fifth on 63 minutes from another good finish and they were deserved winners today as they progressed to the next round of the county cup.   For Manor it's time to concentrate on getting their league form right.
