Rayleigh Town 1 Hannakins Farm 1

EOFL Premier Division, Saturday 11th May 2013

My fifth game of the week took me to Rayleigh Sports & Social Club for a local derby between 4th placed Rayleigh Town and fifth placed Hannakins Farm who reside from Billericay.  The game was a great advert for lower league football with lots of end to end action and it was a very good competitive game.  Hannakins Farm took a 19th minute lead when a shot from the left side of the box across the keeper went through the keepers hands as he dived to try and save the ball and crept inside the far corner.  Rayleigh, who created chances all afternoon finally made one count on 41 minutes from a close range finish inside the penalty area, although the keeper should have probably done better as he let the ball in at the near post.  No more goals followed but Rayleigh will wonder how the didn't convert any more chances.  Hannakins Farm threatened to steal the points towards the end but the game finished 1-1 and the away side would definitely be happier with the outcome.
