Essex Senior League Cup Final, Friday 10th May 2013 (at Grays Athletic FC)
Barkingside demolised their Senior League counterparts this evening 9-1 at Rush Green Stadium. Bowers finished bottom of the league conceding 108 goals while Barkingside finished runners up to Burnham Ramblers and the difference in league position showed from the off. Side took the lead through Cosson on 16 minutes and doubled their lead through the same player on 27 minutes. On 40 minutes it was 3-0 through Ellul and right on half time it was 4-0 from a Cosson penalty and his hatrick. The second half carried on in the same vein as Cosson grabbed his fourth and Sides fifth goal 46 seconds into the second half. Side made it 6-0 on 51 minutes through a deflected shot from Cosson before Bowers finally grabbed a goal of their own on 54 minutes from Gladen. It was 7-1 on 64 minutes when a header from Calloway hit the post and then the back of Bowers keeper Doyle before going over the line for an own goal. 8-1 came on 68 minutes through substitute Steadman and the scoring was completed on 80 minutes as Ellul grabbed his second of the game. So a rather one sided final sadly but well done to Barkingside on winning the League Cup and well done to Bowers for reaching the final.
