Oddsenligaen (2nd Division, Group 3), Saturday 12th September 2015
Saturday afternoon took me to my next Norwegian game and this
time it was the lovely surroundings of the Sola Stadion as hosts Sola
took on Vindbjart in a 5th Vs 4th clash in the Oddsenligaen (2nd
Division) Group 3 match.
The first ten minutes were a fairly quiet affair and the only chance
of note came on six minutes as a ball forward towards the edge of the area was controlled by Hummervoll but his snap shot was well saved by keeper Boujar. However in the 10th minute the hosts took the lead as Niklas Sandberg was allowed to run at the box unchallenged and he struck a left footed effort into the bottom corner. Sola 1 Vindbjart 0.
Two minutes later and the hosts made it two as Abdirizak Adhi Huka
ran into the box unchallenged and slid the ball under keeper Boujar to
double the lead and give Sola a terrific advantage so early in the
game. Sola 2 Vindbjart 0.
The hosts continued to attack and on 17 minutes found themselves in
behind the visitors backline again but Sandberg saw his effort well
saved by Boujar and four minutes later Sola pinched the ball in the
middle of the park and Hummervoll set off on a threatening run towards
the Vindbjart goal but hit his effort way over when he had better
options either side of him.
Sola of course are managed by former Viking Scotsman Maurice Ross and
he had plenty to say as per usual, upsetting the referee midway through
the first half who ended up having a strong word with the Sola boss.
He couldn’t of been unhappy with his sides performance though as they
had been fairly dominant for half an hour.
The visitors did have a long throw into the area invade everyone and drift out for a goal kick in what was their only real sniff of goal and on 33 minutes the hosts went further ahead as a ball into the box found Kittinan Kaeophu whose first effort was saved by Boujar but it came back to the Sola player who stabbed home the rebound. Sola 3 Vindbjart 0.
The visitors defence were all over the place and seven minutes before half time
they left Espedal free at the back post but the angle was to tight and
saw him hit into the side netting. The last few minutes of the half saw
the visitors finally get a foothold in the contest and four minutes
before half time had their first effort on target which forced keeper
Overnes into making a smart save down to his left.
A minute before half time another visitors attack saw a cross into
the area cause slight concern but the eventual header was easy for
keeper Overnes then Sola broke forward but saw their effort half blocked
and then keeper Boujar gather the loose ball with ease. The visitors
created one last chance in the first half when a corner saw Skeie volley
wide at the near post but it was the hosts who held a commanding lead
at the break.
Half Time Sola 3 Vindbjart 0
Two minutes into the second half Sola should of made it four when
they broke down the left though Sandberg and the eventual effort from
Sandberg was blocked but then on 49 minutes the visitors managed to grab
a goal back when a low cross into the six yard box was missed by keeper
Overnes allowing Oyvind Gausdal to tap over the line at the back post. Sola 3 Vindbjart 1.
Moments later Sola almost restored their three goal cushion when
Hummervoll turned on the edge of the ared and fired an effort at goal
which keeper Boujar turned over smartly and then from the resulting
corner Brasetvik’s glancing header came back of the bar. Sola then
should of wrapped up the game again moments later when Sola broke from a
visitors attack but the finish was poor and easy for the keeper.
The visitors however were starting to find their feet again and on 56
minutes they broke down the left and the ball in was sliced just over
the bar by a defender
trying to clear the cross. Sola were having to do a lot of defending
in the half so far but were then dealt a blow on 64 minutes when the
hosts saw a shot blocked but then saw keeper Boujar brings down Sandberg
just inside the box for a penalty and Tom Erik Maldal stepped up and coverted emphatically sending keeper Boujar the wrong way. Sola 4 Vindbjart 1.
However the visitors continued to plug away and attack and with
twenty minutes left won a free kick in a decent position but the Sola
wall blocked the effort before a cross was caught at the near post by
Overnes. A minute later the visitors went close again as a ball slipped
into Gausdal saw the forward swivel and hit his effort just wide of the
near post. It was no real surprise that the visitors grabbed a goal
back on 75 minutes when a free kick in from the left hand side of the area saw Oyvind Gausdal rise above the defence to power home a towering header into the far corner and give Vindbjart some sort of hope again. Sola 4 Vindbjart 2.
The visitors had been the better side for a majority of the second
half and with eight minutes to go the Sola defence were really under
pressure as the visitors continued to pressurise the hosts and a Gausdal
header was saved down low to keeper Overnes left hand side. With five
minutes left the hosts had a chance to seal the game, not for the first
time, when they broke clean through but the ball was taken to far and
from an impossible angle the ball was squared towards goal were it was
booted clear.
With a minute of the ninety left Sola’s Tom Erik Maldal saw keeper
Boujar off his line and from his own half tried to lob the keeper and
the ball only just bounced over the bar although keeper Boujar had just
got back anyway so would of probably saved anyway. The visitors wasted a
decent free kick in stoppage time
as their time ran out seeing the hosts take the three points despite
soaking up a lot of second half pressure. The damage had already been
done in the first half meaning Sola move up to 4th whilst visitors
Vindbjart dropped to 6th.
