Southend Manor 6 Sporting Bengal United 1

Essex Senior League, Tuesday 17th March 2015

In the battle of the bottom two at Southchurch Park the hosts cantered to a 6-1 home win over Sporting Bengal United to see them go back above Greenhouse London into 18th.  There were barely two minutes on the clock when Manor took the lead thanks to Drury's cut back to Henesy who took a touch and fired past the keeper.  Sporting equalised on the half hour mark after a defensive error allowed the visitors to slot home into an empty net but another defensive error, this time from the visitors allowed Baldwin to lob a stranded keeper and give Manor a 2-1 half time lead.  The hosts ran riot in the second half and made it 3-1 eight minutes into the second half when another defensive slip allowed Henesy in to round the keeper and slot home and it was 4-1 with twenty minutes left when Henesy unselfishly squared to Drury who took a touch and fired home.  More good play from the hosts saw Baldwin lay off to Hall who then laid it on a plate for Drury who slotted into an empty net on 74 minutes and then on 83 minutes Drury completed his hat trick when Baldwin laid the ball off to him and he took a touch before firing across the keeper into the far corner via the inside of the post to complete the scoring and give the hosts a deserved win.
