Essex Alliance Senior Division, Monday August 19th
My second Monday Night Football of the season saw me over at Oakside for the first midweek football of the new Essex Alliance Season, in the top division, the Senior Division, for a match between Lymore Gardens & Ongar Town.
Before I continue on with this contest I will just recap on how the opening weekend of fixtures went, they began on Friday night with two match ups, before six more games took place on Saturday, here is a brief look at what went on.....
Friday August 16th
Haringey Borough U23s 2 Frenford Development 2 (Iguisi, Gravillis)
Lymore Gardens 3 (Roberts 2, Lungikisa) Kulture Klub 3 (Lecaj 2, Priest)

Ongar Town 2 (Galati, Lockett) Phillip United 1
Sporting Hackney 2 Waltham Forest Borough 3 (Florence, Akanbi, Bihmoutine)
Walthamstow Reserves 0 Woodford Town Reserves 0
So, tonight's teams had differing fortunes in their opening games, Lymore Gardens shared six goals with Kulture Klub on Friday night whereas visitors Ongar Town managed to win their opener at home to Phillip United the following afternoon, so both were undefeated after one game at least!!! How would this evenings game go, would they both still be unbeaten after this game or would Lymore grab a first win of season or could Ongar make it two wins from two?
The hosts broke through after just seven minutes when a lovely reverse pass inside to Dylan Roberts saw him fire a left footed effort in off the inside of the post, it was a lovely move and set the tone for how the hosts were to play throughout the evening, the new 3G surface at Oakside certainly suited their style of play.
They were to double their lead as well just past the half hour mark when after the visitors failed to clear their lines, the ball eventually found it's way to Johneli Lungikisa who swung a left boot at the ball and saw it find the bottom corner, and it meant the hosts were to go into the break two goals to the good and looking set for a first three points of the campaign.
Ongar were not without their chances though, they had two terrific one on one chances in the first period but both times saw the keeper thwart them, but Lymore were certainly the more dangerous of the two sides on show, and although Ongar huffed and puffed for alot of the contest, they were unable to find a route back into the contest and after the hosts had seen a terrific long range effort thump off the post, they did add a third goal with just over twenty minutes to go.
Tyrique Peters was the man to net the third goal after the ball was squared to him inside the box with the keeper stranded, after that it was how many the hosts could get as a visibly tiring visiting team were struggling to cope with the hosts passing and movement, and the clinical hosts duly made it 4-0 with ten minutes to go when Roberts slotted across the keeper into the far corner.
And just three minutes after that Peters waltzed through a tired backline to slot beyond the keeper for his second of the contest, a contest that although Ongar were competitive in at times, found the hosts to much to handle and fell to a first loss of the season as a result.
Full time Lymore Gardens 5 Ongar Town 0
