Marcus Bowers netted a hat-trick as The Bees maintained top spot in the Essex Senior League after thumping Sporting Bengal United at The Hive.
Sporting sent a rasping angled drive over in the games first attempt at goal on three minutes but just four minutes later the Bees grabbed an early lead when Luke Hornsley converted a deflected cross into the far corner.
However despite this early lead the hosts looked nervous and on fifteen minutes gave away a free kick which was about twenty five yards out, but it was straight at the keeper.
But midway through the half more sloppy careless play from the visitors defence allowed a ball to be squared to David Vaughan who duly smashed home first time into the roof of the net to bring Sporting level.
Three minutes later a Basildon free kick was headed wide as the hosts came close to retaking the lead before moments later Steve Carvell drilled a long range effort wide of the hosts post.
And then in the 27th minute the Sporting keeper made a mess of a ball forward but Tom Barton struck a weak effort back at the keeper who managed to make a stop.
In the 33rd minute their was a great chance for the hosts as Jack Adlington got in but the keeper made a super stop however he was powerless to prevent the hosts from retaking the lead six minutes before half time when after a spell of pressure Marcus Bowers tapped home after the keeper had saved an initial header.
It was an import goal to score and a minute before the break the Bees almost increased their lead but saw a free kick headed over. However Basildon did hold a slender lead at the break.

Two minutes into the second half Adlington got in again for the hosts but after rounding the keeper saw his effort brilliantly cleared off the line.
But four minutes later they added a third when Bowers grabbed his second, heading home a free kick from point blank range as the Bees got the perfect start to the second period.
Moments after Bowers stuck an effort just wide as the hosts went for a fourth, and just before the hour mark did make it four as Bowers grabbed his hat-trick by ramming a free kick home and the hosts were cruising now.
The visitors did manage a shot wide from range but they had been second best this half and had failed to deal with the wonder that was Bowers, who was subbed with 18 minutes remaining and came off to a huge ovation, it had been another top quality performance from him.
With just under fifteen minutes remaining a great ball forward from the hosts almost saw a visitors defender slice into his own net and then moments later the hosts got in again but saw the keeper come to thwart the danger.
Ash Blackburn, on for Bowers, put in a delightful ball for Hornsley with nine minutes left but it bounced of the chest of the Bees striker and away from danger and the game seemed to be winding down to a quiet conclusion.
But with minutes remaining it all kicked off when after a melee had taken place, Sporting midfielder Spencer Forte punched an opponent, was sent off, then pushed the referee before punching one of his own players.
If that wasn’t enough as he was walking off the pitch he dared a fan to make a comment, which they did, and the next thing you know the player removed his shirt and made off towards the fans in question.
A rather nasty confrontation followed as both sides had to be held back with force as the situation threatened to get well out of hand, however it was finally brought under control however both clubs could and will most likely face sanctions after this.
Forte, the player who caused all of this, will no doubt face a lengthy ban and will most likely not play for the club again. A very sad state of affairs and all so unnecessary after what had been a fairly contested game of football.
Anyway once the game did eventually resume the Bees had the last laugh when adding a fifth when Hornsley broke through and his persistence saw him ram an effort home and see him end the game with a brace.
It meant the Bees maintained their one point lead at the top whilst Sporting have now lost eight in a row in the league and have many issues to address it seems.
