Barking 6 Waltham Forest 1

Essex Senior League, Saturday 7th February 2015

The Blues dominated from start to finish as they despatched a poor Waltham Forest side 6-1 at Mayesbrook Park.  The hosts had to wait till just before the half hour mark to take the lead as Tom Jeffes received the ball inside the six yard box and turned the ball in from close range.  This opened the floodgates as it was two on 38 minutes when Joe Staunton was brought down for a penalty and full back Ben Turner converted the spot kick.  It was three on 41 minutes as a cross from the left found Tom Jeffes who flicked the ball up beforre volleying past Hunt brilliantly for  superb goal and then he grabbed his hat trick two minutes later in comical style as a Forest defender cleared the ball against Jeffes and it duly flew past Hunt into the corner of the net.  Forest were kept in the dugouts at half time by the manager as he ranted and raved at them in view of everyone but this didn't seem to inspire them as the hosts continued to look more than comfortable although some sloppy play from Barking allowed Hassana Traore in to slot past Willis to make it 4-1 on 72 minutes although they never threatened an unlikely comeback and on 78 minutes it was 5-1 to the hosts when the ball fell to Steve Willis on the edge of the box and he volleyed superbly past Hunt into the corner.  On 84 minutes the scoring was complete when the ball broke to Ben Turner inside the box thanks to Ryan Creeds determination and he fired into top corner giving Hunt no chance.  Barking are now just three points behind Haringey although the leaders have two games in hand.
