Southend Manor were beaten 2-0 this evening at Takeley's Station Road for their first loss in nine games. Takeley come out of the blocks early on determined to stamp their authority on the game from the off. Manor struggled to get a foot on the ball in the first 10 minutes but they gradually settled into their rhythm and looked more comfortable. Albert Pinto had the games only real moment in the first twenty minutes when his long range effort was saved well by Takeley stopper Ron Yates. It was Takeley who took the lead on 25 minutes when Takeley forward Reece Dobson got the better of the defence down the byline before finshing past Adam Seal in the Manor goal for 1-0. This didn't deter Manor who were getting some joy down the right hand side with Yaw Danso but on the occasions when he got to the byline and crossed across the box their wasn't a forward there to finish. Takeley did manage another good chance when Dobson's effort hit the post and Seal did well to scramble the rebound away. Manors best effort of the half was when Terry Griffiths was played in on goal but his finish went wide of the post. Just before the half time whistle a corner from the right was glanced just over by Jay Smith as Manor finished the half the better side. Manor made a change at half time with Hestion-Harris coming on for Kye Jude. The second half started in much the same way as the first half without much incident but then on 58 minutes a sloppy ball out of defence was seized upon by Reece Dobson who calmly ran through on goal and rounded Seal before slotting home for 2-0. This settled the home side down and they continued to pour forward in search of a killer third. At 2-0 Manor were still just in the game but they were struggling to create anything of real note. Dobson had a chance to score his hat trick but his effort screwed wide. Takeley continued to create chances and again another Dobson effort was brilliantly saved by Seal down to his left. Manor made another change with three minutes left when the other Hestion-Harris replaced the tiring Jay Smith. Takeley slowed the game down as they were happy with the result by then and they saw out the game confortably for a 2-0 win.
