FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round, Sunday 28th September 2014
Aveley got the better of the near neighbours Thurrock by battling to a hard earned 2-0 win at Ship Lane to progress to the next round of the FA Cup. Thurrock were the better side for the majority of the first half but wasted chances to take the lead before Aveley took the lead themselves on 32 minutes when Weemes effort was saved by Walker down to his right but the ball came out to Danny Francis who cooly slotted into the far corner, putting the away side 1-0 ahead at the break. Thurrock continued to create some chances in the second half but it was one of those days in front of goal for the home side. Aveley were playing more and more on the counter attack towards the end and finally settled this tie a minute into stoppage time when sustitute Theo Ola curled a delightful effort beyond Walker into the bottom right hand corner to send the side from Field Mill into the hat for tomorrows draw.

FC Romania 1 Tower Hamlets 2
Essex Senior League, Thursday 25th September 2014
Hamlets produced a shock of sorts as they came away from Theobalds Lane with all three points to end FCR's 100% league record this season. It was a well deserved victory in all honesty as FCR were well off their game and Hamlets could and should of won by more goals. FCR perhaps had one eye on the FA Cup at the weekend by resting some normal starters and Hamlets began well and took the lead on 13 minutes when Joe James flicked home a corner. They could of been out of sight by the time FCR levelled on 41 minutes when a free kick was parried out by keeper Paul allowing Andrei Baciu to place the rebound beyond him for 1-1. Hamlets re took the lead on 51 minutes thanks to a wonderful solo goal by Vinny Williams and apart from a Ilie Vasile effort with twenty minutes left FCR created nothing at all going forward. Hamlets had chances to add to their lead but alas it didn't matter in the end as they ran out 2-1 winners.

Southendian Ladies 2 Offley & Stopsley 2
Eastern Region Womens Division One South, Sunday 21st September 2014
A late goal from Offley grabbed a point in a game they largely dominated. The first half was pretty much one way traffic and on 18 minutes the away side took the lead from a long range effort deceiving keeper Beaumont in the Southend goal. A minute later the home side levelled through Helen Clifford, striking home with her left foot. Offley continued to dominate the first half but could not convert their chances. The second half was far more even although Offley missed another chance on the hour before Nikol Chapman's free kick from distance beat the Offley keeper to put the home side into a 2-1 lead with 25 minutes to play. It looked as though they would hold out for an undeserved win but with five to go a mistake by keeper Beaumont allowed Offley to cross and tap into an open net to share the spoils.

Southend Manor 1 Barking 4
Essex Senior Cup 2nd Round, Wednesday 17th September 2014
Barking booked their place among Essex's elite in the Third Round of the Senior Cup by dispatching a spirited Manor side 4-1 at The Southchurch Arena. Barking could and should of been out of sight after the first twenty minutes or so but they did eventually take the lead on 20 minutes when a free kick into the Manor box was half volleyed past Priddle by Steve Willis. Manor came back into the match towards the end of the first half and continued on into the second half when they were awarded a penalty on 47 minutes for a foul on Tejaiye but Rhys Fatt could only blaze his spot kick over the bar. However seven minutes later Manor did level when a ball inside found Nick Henesy who struck the ball past Jason Willis in the Barking goal. It didn't stay level for long however as with Barking's next attack Chaz Liddard found space on the right and he hammered his shot past Priddle into the far corner to give them the lead once again. Barking dominated again thereafter and added two more goals in the last few minutes, firstly when Mtyada's run into the box and cross into the six yard box was tapped home by Luke Foster and then a cross into the box was headed past Priddle by James Barlow to add more gloss to the scoreline.
